I was turned away from the Cumming office because I arrived less than 10 minutes late for my 4-year old's appointment for an evaluation of an injury to his face. This was our first visit, and I accidentally went to the wrong building on the Northside campus. When I arrived and signed in, the receptionist told me that I may not be able to be seen, since I was not on time. Had I been 20 or 30 minutes late, or even 15 for that matter, I would have understood. But I was less than 10 minutes late. She returned from speaking to the provider, an said they refused to see my son and told me I would have to reschedule. I had driven all the way from Canton with my son for this appointment. I'm sure if the doctor had been running behind I would have been expected to wait, but that is obviously a one-way street. I can't believe no consideration is given to patients, especially new pediatric patients that are unfamiliar with the office. Obviously patients' time is not valued at this practice, and therefore patients themselves must not be valued. I am surprised that there was no more empathy or consideration given to my situation--even a conversation or discussion about the circumstances under which my arrival was delayed. Just a flat "no", over 8 1/2 minutes. Ridiculous.
